What is Reiki?
Translated, Reiki comes from the Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy. Reiki is a gentle, hands-on practice established by Dr. Usui of Japan in the early 1800s. Dr. Usui researched the hands-on healing practice of many traditions and created Reiki based on his understanding and experiences with these healing modalities.
I’ve always described Reiki as a relaxing approach to boosting your restorative energy. Our bodies are in a continual energetic cycle of change and restoration. Reiki facilitates this cycle. As a Reiki Practitioner, it is very gratifying to see clients return to their calm, authentic center… this is where healing begins.

What happens in a Reiki Session?
My Reiki sessions are performed on a comfortable Reiki table in a soothing setting. A heated table is optional, and Reiki chairs are also available if that better suits your comfort. Treatments are given to the front and back of the body. Placing hands in different postures on the body allows for the Reiki flow of energy. Some people prefer suspended hands, and that option is available.
You will be instructed to roll over and lie face down partway through the session. When you roll over, your face rests in the cradle, and the second half of the session will start. Blankets, eye pillows, and bolsters are available to provide additional comfort. Your only job is to settle in, relax and allow your body, mind, and heart to be open to receive restorative energy treatment. Doing nothing is encouraged!
